Since Marc posted a lounging leopard, here's a lazy lion from Etosha.
Captured near Gemsbokvlakte waterhole (Okaukuejo area) on our first afternoon of a trip that took place just about exactly a year ago.

I am off to the Kgalagadi tomorrow and will only be back online around 17 December...see you all on the flipside!
I will be testing out the D810 / 400mm f2.8 combo thanks to Nikon SA

    Techs:
    Nikon D3s
    Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II
    f5.6 | 1/1000 SS | ISO-500

Hi Morkel, nice scene depicting the lion lazing under the shade of the tree. That subtle eye contact makes this image, without that the lion would have been lost in the frame. TFS.
good luck Morkel for your upcoming trip. Hope u comeback with some awesome images!
    Cheers

Nicely framed and you have done a great job creating something out of a situation I would not usualy even lift my camera. Shows you that you should always be ready and thinking.

You managed his attention nicely in good light, just would have wished for a better angle.
Enjoy the trip, let's hope you crack your leopard sighting

Will be most interested to see how that combo goes Morkel, especially the weight saving/balance on the new 400? I'd be very surprised (apart from FPS), if it's not spectacular.

Hi Morkel - A flat cat image but with a bit of eye contact. Processed well and I understand why you posted it but certainly not a highlight of your portfolio. Here's hoping you come back with much more interesting images from this trip.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Morkel , just had a quick laugh about Rachel`s intro ....... about the flat cat . If i could see a flat leopard i would fire a lot in the first place .

Even if not a very attractive flat cat ..... i quite like the thing as concept image , well maybe . Well processed with some nice typical Etosha colors and contrast. What is just bothering me , are the grass stems right in front of the lions face , only cloning doe shell here . But not your style .

Have a great time with less flat lions and lower grass , cheers Andreas
