    Default Cheetah @ twilight hour

We spotted this cheetah at Timbavati while watching a herd of African buffalos near a water hole. We followed him to the other side of the waterbody where he/she began to hunt a Steenbok. We watched her chase at blistering speed right next to our vehicle (maybe 10 feet away) but unfortunately for the cheetah, the chase was unsuccessful. It was already past sundown and the light was fading fast. Got one chance to grab a clear shot of the cheetah standing still for a moment before walking away. I liked the magical/mystical light and had to up the ISO quiet a bit. Not a technically great shot but I still liked it.

Beautiful scene, sharp animal and I agree with you - nice twilight colours, Sanjeev! I just love that alert look on the cheetah's face!

Nice light, smoothness, pose and colours. I would try to extract a bit more detail/sharpness on the face, but otherwise leave it as it is!

Hi Sanjeev - You were very lucky to see a cheetah in the Timbavati. You made the best of a tough lighting situation and got the shot. I really like the separation of the cheetah from the bg. Good suggestion by Ed.

Love this time of day, and this cheetah image does justice to that, good quality considering the high ISO as well Sanjeev.

Superb IQ considering the ISO. Lovely pose and nice surroundings. I do see a magenta cast...but easily fixed.

Hi Sanjeev nice mood in this image with the colors you produced . I guess you used DPP 4 for this , i might reduce the red magenta a fraction . It is not that much distracting in the subject and surrounding but the blue of the sky does look a bit too red/magenta . And if this was already past sundown i would expect a darker overall image , just my thoughts .

Thanks all. Andreas, I did use DPP 4 for this and some of my recent images. Will look into reducing the Magenta cast and reduce it. I did lighten the image a bit.

Hi Sanjeev, really like the framing of this, with a good amount of space all round too. I also like the inclusion of the blue in the LHC, just breaks the overall colour palette and adds a hint of interest. Depending on how much you have lightened the image may have contributed in loosing some of the detail/depth in the face as per Ed's comment. Great to see you pushing the ISO.

    Hi Sanjeev

Very nice one. Love the cheetahs posé and how you handled the colors in the bg/grass. I think you pulled this one of really well.
