Out at the Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge a couple of days ago, this pair of (a male and female I believe) American Widgeon flew in and landed on the opposite side of the pond. Again a healthy crop to get them as a decent size in the frame.

A strong sense of habitat here as well as nice colours for the background. Light quality is good but not so much the light angle which cast a shadow of the faces. You say it is heavily cropped...I may be out to pasture here, but depending on what the rest of the frame was like this may be better with some canvas added back to play on that "habitat" type image.

I believe you are correct in the sexes of the pair.
