A lovely couple indeed! I would only hope for a head turn on the drake similar to that of the hen's. Open beak is a nice plus though. I think a little off the top might be nice.

I kinda wish the male's head and neck were a bit sharper, but I love everything else about the image from the poses (including both head angles) and the neat streak of orange in the BG, and of course the low angle. Nicely done.

A lovely togetherness image--drake woodies always look so fierce but here you've managed to capture a nice domestic moment --I wonder what he's saying to her. Where was your focus point ? I suspect it was on the hen's eye and wonder if, had you focused a bit further back, your DOF would have covered the whole of both birds, from beak to tail. I don't think having the tails in focus is necessary to the success of this image but it w/b another presentation.

I don't mind the drakes HA as it adds some contrast to the hens HA. The drakes head looks acceptably sharp on my monitor and I like the fact that he is calling. Techs look great and I like the clear water and the soft BG. Nice one Dan.

Great image Dan! I like the open beak, poses, colours, composition and BG. Love to have this in my files.
