WOW Keith!
Absolutely beautiful.
Love the pretty subject and the light and the great BG.
My only suggestion would be to crop out or clone out the bits of vegetation peeking through on the RHS.
Did you do some NR on the perch? The LHS of the perch looks like it may have had some NR done to it. Not a big deal but if you can sharpen the lichen up a bit on the LHS it would improve the image.
Well done on a fine image,
Gail
The BKG is cracking, separates the subject nicely, good detail and love that eye. The raised crest works well and being almost side on you get the best view. Agree with Gail about the foliage on the RHS, but I think it's the DoF tailing off rather than NR on the left? I wonder if it would benefit with more space below than above, feels like it's slipping out of frame. You know what I would say about SS, so I guess this was before the D4.
Thanks Gail, have removed vegetation from RHS,did apply some NR to b/g and may have got a bit lazy re the selection.
Steve this was taken with a D300 a camera that I liked a lot, think maybe the help I have had from you re processing might have something to do with it, thanks a lot.
Thanks Geoffry .
Thanks Mohammed.
Thanks for your kind words Dankearl.
Cheers Chris .
Hi Keith, you are very kind, but you did ALL the hard work in getting the shot & the PP stage, all I have done in the past is pointed you 'hopefully' in the right direction, but great to see what you have picked/learnt you are now putting into practice, keep it up, as I know it can be frustrating at times, but your perseverance is paying off now and I bet you are doing things now without having to think.
Wow Keith this is one of the best images I have seen you post!! Not a thing I would change from the RP. Great pose with the raised crest, killer perch and a great looking smooth BG. Print!!
