Default Juvenile Crane- A Study in Shadows and Light

I like the heavily shadowed plumage of this juvenile Sandhill Crane. It give the bird an almost sculpted appearance.Canon 7D Mark II, 600 mm II + 1.4x III, f/7.1, 1/1600, ISO 400, manual exposure, hand heldName: 20141118-_L9A3687-Sandhill-Crane-5x7.jpg

Really like the atmosphere, looks like a very skilful piece of work that as captured the scene beautifully.

Sweet pose! Really diggin' the rim light around the leading edge of the wings as it helps to push it apart from a similarly toned background.

Pleasing theatrical lighting you have here. Fun to see a juvie for a change too.

Oh I love the mood of this image. I almost get the feeling of a distant storm approaching. As your title implies, great study in light and shadow due to the off-angle light. A specular highlight between the wing and right edge may be worth eliminating.

Looks like you are having a good time at Bosque and with your new toy. Nice looking frame with neat angle look to it. Don't see the juvies to much so thanks for sharing. See ya soon
