    Default Baby Elephant

We were fortunate to see many baby elephants during our trip to Timbavati, SA in Sept 2014. They are so cute and adorable! I wanted to convey the size of the ele, so included the slightly OOF larger one in the frame. Should have stopped down a bit more but the little one was well in focus and sharp. Hope you like it.

Hi Sanjeev - it does show the difference in size well. The calf is well separated from the busy bg too. If it were mine I would open up the midtones a bit. Also the eles look more brown than grey here but that may be due to the dust and light.

Hi Sanjeev, I'd be guide by Rachel's comments, although it's a bit tight on that RHS, any more image content?

Hi Sanjeev even if a bit tight on RHS , i like the comparison in size . I am fine with the overall tone and colors and would loose some of the dead space on bottom . I think stopping down would not have helped a lot ,from my feeling i think the bigger one is too far away and you have been to close . Even F9 or 10 would not work to get full detail of the big one.

Love the little one and the light on him.
I am not loving the OOF elephant. Had he been in focus ( which I appreciate would have been impossible at F anything) it would achieve your desired goal of showcasing the size difference.
But for me, the OOF elephant distracts as opposed to enhances.
So I would crop the big ellie out and just focus on the sweet little ellie.

    Dear Sanjeev,

I really like this, and especially the pose from the little ellie, head slightly turned as if he is teasing you:)

I do not mind mama ellie being slightly OOF, if she was in then all that busy BG would be in too!

To me, mama ellie is there for "comparison purposes" and all I would do is follow Rachel's advice regarding midtones and like Steve said, allow a bit more on the RHS (if possible). Maybe try to take off a bit from the bottom and see what it looks like?

Baby ellie is really gorgeous, lovely detail and sharpness is there in good measure - I enjoyed viewing Sanjeev, great work

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

    Hi Sanjeev

Love the HA and look on little one's face.
Removed some OOF grass behind youngster's rump, soften the BG cropped a bit and flipped it.

    WDYT?
    Regards

    Andre.

Thanks Andre, yeah the RP looks better. Nice idea to flip and it seems to work well in this situation. Agree with you and Gabriela that the little one is indeed gorgeous & cute!!!
Thanks everyone for chipping in! Appreciate it a lot.

Nice - Andre's RP is better. Not sure why flipping works but it seems to here. Losing the tyre tracks on the bottom helps too.
