Ok, they're not really black, but they look black. Does that count? After the sun goes down at the Bosque, the cranes fly in and drop in to the pools, where they spend the night. It is fun to go there and get these shots. No processing, just an in-camera effect.

I like both the silhouettes and the slightly varying sky color. Some -- well, maybe a good bit -- of canvas added to the left would, I think, complement the flight of the birds.

Thanks Dennis, I think you are right but I don't need to add canvas as I cropped some from the left and probably too much from the right. Here's the image from the camera; I put a line where I might crop only from the right. What do you think?

That looks good. I probably wouldn't have wondered about elongating the image if it had looked like that.

Here's what I came up with when I was playing around with it earlier.

That's interesting Dennis, I would not have thought to put the group that far to the right. I guess it raises the rhetorical question "are they coming, or going?" Your crop leaves room on the left for text, which would be nice for a greeting card or poster.

I love the original, certainly like where you placed your logo...a lovely image of these birds...they look like their all coming in for a landing, with those outstretched wings....TFS

    Yeah! OOTB rocks!
I like the original with just a bit more canvas to the right. Love the sky, and a silhouette shot is always a winner!

Great silhouettes and wing positions. I like the OP with maybe a little more on the right. YAY!!! OOTB!!!

A simply great image. Beautifully done. Beautiful silhouettes. I like everything about the OP except your logo, which seems to get tangled up with the birds. But, seeing the other options shows that this image can work in several ways. Great work.
I had to look up ETL. Good for us! No wonder I have trouble keeping up here.
