Great timing to get me into this action shot , i would have loved to have the Master in focus , but we cannot have everything all the time .
Thanks Carl and Steve , yes took "full vehicle damage cover " just before the WB came that close .
At one point during that short session , i thought will they crash into my car . If the "old Master" would have been faster with changing kit i could have used the 16 - 35 mm lens and get pretty much a wide angle close to FF. But the "old Master " was simply too slow ..

Again Gabriela a very BIG Thank You for being part of this , for me, successful and big fun trip , and i repeat i made new friends !!!!!!

It felt really good posting this, brought some memories... I enjoy sharing those special moments, not just for us who were there together but also for our friends who might like to know what it is like on those trips: what we see, and especially how the images were taken (circumstances, conditions, vehicles and camera kit, etc.). I took this image because I hoped you would get a stunner (being so close) and was planning all along to post it and show how Andreas operates in the field:) I have a few frames of this instance, I must say at some point the wildebeest got so close that I worried about you and your equipment. Whew, think about the amount of dust also, flying into your lens! I still remember the time we all sat down at the camp to clean our equipment...there was a lot more than "dust bunnies" on my lenses

Andreas, if Alison had some VT footage of the lion charge we face, me in the line of fire, I was certainly 'cooking', so I can appreciate the moment after, even without grey socks.

I am buying myself a pair of grey socks tomorrow...lucky grey socks, like Andreas's. Although not sure I will be able to wear them in February, too hot. Cooking hot...
