    Default Lammergeier for Art

Artie asked to see a portrait without the bones in its beak. Here is one just for him. The bones are lamb/goat feet but due to the size of the birds they look like chicken bones. This is one magnificent bird and one I feel that all birdwatchers must see at least once. The pics do not portray the whole event, the smell, noise and sheer numbers of the vultures is awesome. I am planning a return visit next summer/autumn just for the lammergeiers- hopefully with a 1DX. If anyone is visiting Spain I can give you details of who I booked with.
Quite a big crop- the whole bird looks better.
Same little processing as last one.

    Great stuff Ivan.
I last saw these in the French side and may have seen one in the Carres Gorge in the Pecos a long time ago. I beloeve they are trying to get them back there.
Didn,t get this close though!! Wonderful.

Impressive looking fella indeed! The neck looks huge, and I love the red eye ring. I'd tone down the dark line directly below the bill, and I would have preferred a better head angle of a few degrees more towards us. The rest looks fine to me.

You have captured a nice portrait here, the light was nice and soft. I wish for a slight more head turn towards us and also might sharpen him a bit more.
