Hi folks this little chap was looking for contact to her mother after being separated for a short time . She was resting in the grass and the mother has been feeding not far away , finally the little one got up and was looking for her.

Found the mother and started scratching on mothers legs .

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    EF 500 IS L + 2,0 TC
    F 10 ; Iso 2500 ; 1/640 sec ; man exp

Image processed with Capture One Pro 8 and PS CC . cropped for comp .IQ not the best due to the techs given , but i thought it is a nice moment captured and a good example of size in relation.

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting.

Hi Andreas, agree, a very tender moment captured and great timing with the calf resting it's head, you almost feel that whatever size that horn is, it's just disappeared into the leg.

Hi Andreas - Yes, a very sweet moment. If I recall correctly rhinos have poor eyesight so easy for a separated calf to get nervous. I agree with your self-assessment as well.

Thanks Steve,Rachel and Sanjeev for your comments .

Sanjeev when using the 500 with the 2 x TC you should stop down to get a bit more quality in the image . When shooting wide open the IQ is really poor , specially when light is flat .

Thanks Andreas for the explanation. It makes perfect sense, I remember reading on Art's blog too about stopping down too. Appreciate your response.

Sanjeev the problem is less evident with the new 500 and the MK III TC´s , but still if light allows stopping down at least one stop will give you better IQ.

    Hi Andreas

Love the little critter, they love touching after the absence..
I would remove the grass stalk approaching the eye, bothers me.
    Nice capture, Mr BE!
    Regards

    Andre.
