"Little trotty wagtail" as the poet ,John Clare referred to them.

Little trotty wagtail he went out in the rain,
And tittering, tottering sideways he neer got straight again,
Little trotty wagtail, he waddled in the mud,
And left his little footmarks, trample where he would.
He waddled in the water-pudge, and waggle went his tail,
And chirrupt up his wings to dry upon the garden rail.

Part of a poem I remember from childhood.

About the last shot at my new pool before we got al the wet weather which means there's water every where now. The backdrop odd coulour is the quarry sand and the yellowish on the birds head I think is the sign of a young bird.

Lovely moody little setting. The bird is posed nicely, and shows very well against the colors of the surroundings. Image quality is very high.

Hi John, good pose, and you have brought out the finer plumage detail nicely. I do like the yellow on his head, sharp all over, and you cant go wrong with those colours in the BG.

Hi John, lovely image, great pose and HA. Well done. I liked the wee poem aswell, we used to call them watery wagtails when I was a kid

Nice image John with good detail on the bird. I've never seen one with the yellowy head before.

Lovely details in the wagtail, you have taught me something else - again, I had no idea the juveniles had yellow colouration on the head.
