    Default Pine Grosbeak attack!

As far as I could see, this attack was unprovoked and vicious! I was set up on the red bird and suddenly the orange one flew in and started to attack, biting right above the bill. Photographed in mid-September in Wiseman, Alaska. Wiseman is a tiny village of less than a dozen people on the Haul Road from Fairbanks to Deadhorse, and is the only place to stay along the way.

    Canon 1Dx, Canon 200-400 f4 L IS w/internal 1.4 @ 506mm, tripod, 1/500, f6.3, ISO 1250.

Great action shot Nancy. The image looks very natural and the blur on the wings gives it depth.

Nice action! The image gives a good sense of movement while maintaining sharp focus on head and eye region of both subjects. Well done

Any idea why the bird attacked?
