Default A Bosque Snow Goose and a Festival Update

Had a great time at the Festival of the Cranes, where I enjoyed the company of BPNers Artie Morris, Denise Ippolito, Dan Brown, Kerry Perkins, Miguel Palaviccini, Keith Carver, and my lovely wife Kristin. There were a ton of birds, although there's very little corn (and not a lot of water). Mornings were chilly (10-17 degrees) but afternoons warmed up into the high 40s to low 50s. The vendor booth was impressive! Canon was there in force, with plenty of high end loaners to demo (think 1Dx, 600 II, 500 II, 200-400, etc.). Canon brought several techs who would professionally clean two of your Canon pieces of gear for free. Sigma brought their new 150-600, along with a bunch of other glass. Gary Farber was there representing Hunt's Photo, and he brought an excellent selection of merchandise. The Induro booth, manned by Ray Nason, had a large selection of tripods and heads. And there were booths offering the best in birdwatching gear; Swarovski, Zeiss, Leica, and others.

Here's a Snow Goose I photographed with the 7D2, which I finally got to use for some serious flight photography.

Canon 7D Mark II, 600 mm II, f/8, 1/3200, ISO 400, manual exposure, hand held

Perfectly perfect Snow Goose in action! Love seeing the details in the layers of feathers in the wings. I am unsure about that blue layer of water. It is a nice soft color, however is has the brownish blobs breaking it up, making it a bit of a distraction. The reddish/brown bkgd is gorgeous. I leave for Bosque this coming Tuesday. Looking forward to those lots of birds that you mention.

Hi Doug, great flight pose with the forward wing position, and overall well exposed on the whites. The goose pops nicely from the OOF BG. Well captured.

You could not have asked for a better pose! Lovely whites, and I like the BG a lot (but I see Nancy's point). Sounds like a great time had by all....

    This is excellent.
Love the BG with the brown and blues.
    IQ and exposure are faultless.
Also you captured my favorite wing position!

Percect pose! Looks like this goose cooperated and took off in the right direction (to avoid shadows on the far wing).

Very nice image! Well done in exposing the whites on the Goose. They can be very tricky.

I came back from Bosque a week ago and Im still sad that my vacation was over! Bosque was a wonderful.
