    Default Big, big world

Now for something even smaller than squidgerz ;) I noticed this fellow popping out of sunflower seeds where I fed the crested tits, having the 200-400 enabled me to frame him as I saw him. Not having a crop camera at the moment I would not have been able to do a decent close up anyway ;)

    1DX, 200-400, tripod, uniqball, ISO1000 f4, 1/80sec.

I love this sort of shot and its nice when they can be done in the wild and amazing how they (and othe rthings) soon find feeders.
    Well done

    Hello Neil!

I was just about to switch off for the evening when I saw this little fellow:) Delightful, I so enjoyed viewing! Like the crop here and colours. There seems to be a path in front of the little one (what is his name, by the way?) and the whole image resembles a scene from a story book. The greens might seem a tad bright in places but I kind of like that. The secret world of a little mouse! What a discovery, hope to see more of him, I can just imagine what he would look like among sunflowers...Well done, a very special capture and I thank you for sharing

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Yes Gabriela, he scurries in and out of the hole along that path... but does not stop until safely back at the hole. I believe him to be a short-tailed, or bank, vole. Many thanks!

Very well done! The light and the details that lead the eye down to this little one makes you think of going down a secret tunnel. We are not often privileged to see small rodents in their world. Very, very engaging.

A fabulous shot ... I love the OOF along the front edge of the frame, the gorgeous framing, and the rich colours. The only (very minor) negative is the curved root that tend to draw the eye away from the subject/general feel. A 99/100 for me !!

Neil - This is great. The comp really makes it seem like we are peering into his world. Nice light, colors and image design. It all works for me.

Hi Neil this looks great almost like an Animalscape image .I love the saturated colors and the overall tonality with nice detail where it counts .
I only think slightly different about the crop , i personally would loose a third between the foot of both , mouse and image .

A very good example of showing that also tiny stuff can be very attractive ..

Forgot to mention, saturation was on purpose for that fairytale feel, fairies after all are small ;) On a damp foggy morning the moss really is quite striking. Comp wise, Andreas, I prefer to keep the lower mush as I feel that adds the depth and feel. I may be wrong of course ;)

    Thanks.

Hi Neil - I find this image very engaging and pleasing to the eye. You have captured some great depth into this and the light and saturated colours add immensely. Very well seen and captured. TFS

Hello Matey, like the thinking on this, the rich vibrant habitant works well too. Nice framing/position in frame. Good to see the 'ball' had an airing, told you.

The ball has it's uses, certainly allows a slower SS due to the lack of movement. Thanks all.
