Hi all , going on with my hot images from KTP
Same two guys as previous posting in color .
I personally like the position of both more from the aesthetic POV , looks more balanced IMHO.

I am unsure about the FG , maybe a tad to dark with too much detail , blowing the detail ?
I went for the stark contrast , hope it is not too strong for you folks . I wished there is more detail on the head on the blacks of the left WB . But i could not manage the way i processed this frame to achieve more detail , some was lost on the way from KTP to home .

    EF 200-400 IS L at 274 mm

    F 8 ; Iso 1600 ; 1/1250 sec ; man exp

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC , cropped for comp
Thanks for watching and commenting to the color version

    Cheers Andreas

I like this a lot Andreas. The conversion and presentation is very nice, I like the sparring/interaction of the WBs, the comp is well balanced and with good detail. Well done.

Awesome image, Andreas. I agree with you that I like the position of the WBs here more than the last image. Also, great eye contact here and I like that they are both on their knees. The conversion looks fine to me. Could perhaps try using Nik Detail Enhancer or Tonal Contrast (shadow slider) to pull some more detail in those blacks (not too much though, otherwise it looks too unrealistic).

Nice conversion, African animals always seem to work in mono. Prefer this to your colour shot.

    Good evening Andreas,

Glad to see you are posting so many images from our trip! Is this FF? Almost FF? The FG looks good to me, great expression there from the wildebeests with those "wild eyes", the beginning of a confrontation and a suitable scene for a B/W conversion due to its dramatic content. Don't know if a bit more D/B would improve slightly some areas like ears, horns and nose, in terms of that contrasty look you are seeking?

Unlike me with my lions, you have managed to retain detail in the BG, well done! Just a thought - if you have more space on the LHS and RHS it would be interesting to see a more pano crop with hooves in, I do like this as is but just to try something different, WDYT?

I am looking forward to that wildebeest image I liked most, I know it's there...

    Lekker slaap!

Just reviewed the color image. I much prefer this one with those intense eyes. I also like the very balanced composition with both WBs on their knees. And the way the horn tips meet and complete the contact. Great details. You used CC to convert this to B&W?

Hi Andreas - I too like this one better. Conversion looks good to me and I don't mind the deeper blacks. I also think the fg is fine. Overall, this works for me.

    Hi Andreas,
I really like the symmetry in this image and love the eyes. The detail in the horns is amazing.
I think the detail is fine in your blacks. Anything more and it would be unnatural to my eye.

Agree with the comments above, but for me it's the eye contact that put's this above the average image, nicely seen Andreas.

Hi Andreas - This is a great image and the eye balling is well captured. I think the fg is fine with some good detail.

It looks very good to me, I like the tonal range and the timing was excellent.

Cool image Andreas. Almost like he's fighting with his own reflection in a mirror. Eye contact and touching horn tips really top it off.

    Hi my German Boet

Enough detail in the darks to my eye..
    Comp works for me...
Need the detail in FG to make this image more real.
Shall we call this "the clash of the eyeing titans" ?
    Love it!
    Regards

    Andre.
