    Default Elephant Calf Close Up

    Attached Images Attached Images

A quick grab shot of an elephant calf in the warm late afternoon light in Sabi Sand Game Reserve, South Africa. We did a very fast drive-by so our lone vehicle mate could see her first elephants on our way to a cheetah sighting that proved to be a bust. I think the warm light brought out the textures nicely.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Hi Rachel very nice and effective for a quick grab shot !!!!
A very pleasing BKG is working very well with the subject .I very much like the Ele chewing on the trunk .
Pleasing color and detail , with sharpness where it counts .Overall i would like to see a bit more tonal depth in the 1/4 and HL tones , it does look a bit thin in those areas .Easy fix.

    TFS Andreas

Sweet pose with the trunk in his/her mouth and that short fuzzy hair on top of the head and ears. Lovely lighting.

Oooh, I would kill for some of that nice light!
Love the tight crop and the IQ.
I would reduce the magenta cast on the shadowed ear slightly. Otherwise, no nits from me,
    Gail

Hi Rachel, great DOF on the head, ears and trunk, and the trunk in the mouth adds to the image. I do like the overall light, and you have brought out the Ellie's texture nicely.

Hi Rachel, it's the light for me on this one that works so nicely, although I think/know you have some better 'content' images lurking.

Just see what happens to that right ear as viewed, when you drop the Blue, the Magenta (having looked at it) may be a Tint %, rather than anything else.

Depends on how far you go Rachel, perhaps a little trade off, less warmth, more detail as you will have seen.

Lovely light and framing here, Rachel. These can be hard to nail if you are close to them.
the light is sweet and I think you cropped/framed it just right!

    Hello Rachel,

I too am late to comment, but still enjoying this so much as I am viewing, delightful little ellie busy to figure out what that trunk is for:)
Indeed the light brought out those lovely textures and detail, the ellie as portrayed has this innocent look about him and he/she stands out so nicely against that soft green BG!
Well framed and presented as always, a pleasure to view

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
