    Default Wood Duck (5D3 @ ISO 8000)

Out at the local BioPark with Doug and we were having some fun trying out some high ISO shots. He was testing out the 7D2, so I thought I's push the 5D3 a bit.

Here is one shot at ISO 8000 in an overcast setting. It was about half a stop underexposed (my fault all the way on that one). As good as what we get at ISO 1600 an below? Definitely not. Acceptable? I'd say so!

    Shooting Info:
    Canon 5D3 | 400 f/5.6 + 1.4x
    1/1000" | f/10 | ISO 8000

Love this one because I donīt recall seeing it with an open beak!
Lovely details at such high ISO even for the 5D III :)
Will wait till the 5D IV comes out and see what happens! in the meantime, I will enjoy your images. TFS

Wow...ISO 8000! Plus a fabulous pose with that open bill! I'm heading towards Bosque next week and thought I would also visit some surrounding areas. Where exactly is this Biopark? Wood Ducks are one of my favorites.

I,ve never seen a shot of one with an open beak either ! Does look a bit "crunchy" in places but still a fine closeup.

Nancy send me a PM and I'll send you the directions. But you can look up the albuquerque biopark. It's a little longer than an hour away from the bosque, but worth the trip for an afternoon shoot.

very cool Miguel, I believe you can get cleaner output than that if you use DPP4.

    love the open beak BTW!

I was there last week and it was a great park. The little pool/pond just after the entrance was full of ducks. Many photo opportunity there, the sun angle was a big difficult at times and it was hard getting a single duck because all of them pile up together mostly. But with patience you can get some great photos.

You are probably right, I'll give it a shot to see what I can get out.

Definitely a fun afternoon! Love the open bill and the sharp detail. Noise looks great, especially considering that you pushed the exposure a half stop to the right!
