Hello, the original image was taken with a Nikon D7000. The birds, lighthouse, and shell were added. Color was changed to match a painted wall in our home. Image is produced on a canvas at 62" X 32" x 300DPI
Very effective in the brownish color with the whites of the breaking waves for contrast! The birds and the lighthouse are good additions and blend nicely. The shell appears less blended. Nice composition with all the horizontal lines, and the rocks & lighthouse jutting above for interest. That curving line on the sand is very graceful and leads you nicely into the image.
I like the toning and the leading line of the surf. Lots of elements going on here. I might have tried a subtle drop shadow underneath the shell, or not included it. I think it would have been successful without the birds as well.

You did an excellent job of adding the birds, etc.! All work together well. I agree that the shell is not quite as successful. The curves of the foam, the curves of the driftwood and that one rounded rock are nice repetitions. I might like to see a bit more contrast in the lighthouse and large rocks on the horizon, and maybe the heads of the birds. I admire those who can create images by bringing in elements from other photos.

Agree with others regarding the shell and the birds. If this were mine I would have moved the lighthouse more to the left rather than have it butt up against the edge.
I have found over many years that simple images can be the strongest images. I liked the basic comp along with the sepia but IMO you tried to get too much in the scene.
I like the luminous quality of this monochrome image. The birds and the lighthouse look natural. Do you have pelicans in Oregon? I am interested in your print. It sounds like at over 5 feet, the image still held up well. How about the luminosity? I can't seem to get my monochrome prints to reproduce that quality. (What printer are you using?)
