    Default Rough-Legged Hawk

    Hi Everyone,
Haven't posted to the forum for a while. It's been a slow start to raptor season up here on Vancouver Island. However, we have had a recent visitor that has made it worth while to go out for a shoot. Here is an image of a rough-legged hawk. Apparently they are seen on the odd occasion but don't always come out to the coast in the winter time. This is a juvenile bird that was not at all afraid of photographers.

    Stats: Canon EOS-1D Mark 4, 600mm IS 2 with 1.4X, 1/1600sec, F/6.3, ISO640

    Hope you enjoy this image,

    Steve

Many thanks to everyone who commented on this image. Lots more where that came from as regards this hawk. Will post some flight shots later.

    Cheers,

    Steve

I dream of the day I encounter a wild and free Rough-legged Hawk that does not flee from 300 yards away!! I'd be all over that bird, as I'm sure you were. Excellent image, one that I would give a bit more space for the comp though. Looking forward to more form this subject!
