Taken the other day on the moor, this bird was in the long grass, and I struggled to get a clear shot, without any grass getting in the way of the lens, this is the best I could get,after20mins of stalking,cannon500mm IS,L,F4,1.4X,700MM,FL,7D MK1,hand held,iso800,1/800s,F5.6.crop,sharpened,levels,denoised in BG.
Chris I know what you mean about the bits of grass, must admit it's not a real problem for as long as it's not through the eye or other critical points, in fact it gives a more natural look to the imageIMHO,nice shot I would be very pleased with.
Great image Chris. I like the looking back pose. With so much grass around I think it would be a lot to expect to not have any over the bird.
What area was this taken? It is one bird I have always fancied spending a day trying to find.
That was well worth the stalking session. I love the habitat and look-back pose. Vertical composition works well, I just wish the subject was a tad lower in the frame. Nicely done.
Thanks for looking and your comments,Ian,it was taken in the forest of Bowland area, plenty of grouse moors in this area,Lancashire and on the borders of Yorkshire, hope this helps.
