    Default SNOW GOOSE BLIZZARD-THEME

This is not a Bosque del Apache image. The image was captured near my home in SE Idaho a few springs ago. There is a good chance many of the birds had wintered at Bosque. Our area is a rest stop for them in the spring. In the fall they pass us by. I can not remember what settings I used in Silver Efex Pro to get to this look. I got the idea from Denise Ippolito's blog.

So you don't have to make that trip to Bosque and struggle to find a free space to set up your camera ! Good graphic ranging from whites to grays to blacks. I like that there are snow geese in that open space in the sky on the left. If you want, you could even clone in a few more so they appear a bit higher on the edge, for a little more balance in that upper area. I like the bottom edge of grasses for a nice framing effect.

We often overlook photo opportunities close to home--you found a wonderful spot to photograph these birds. I like the effects, and the B&W. The birds retain enough shape to let me know they are birds, which I like. I agree that the sky needs something. I'd thought about cropping from the top, but Nancy's idea sounds even better.

Hi, Gary, it looks like Bosque to me - mountains and all I'm OK with the sky but I would remove the top most clump of birds on the left edge. I like the look!

Nancy, Anita and Cheryl thanks for the look and comments. I cropped some of the sky and eliminated the cluster of birds at the left edge. To my eye, it is an improvement.

Yes, you improved an already excellent image.

I like them both, but agree that the second is even better. The composition is good in both, and your processing heightens the activity that's going on. The mountains in the background and grasses in the foreground give a great sense of depth.

The second works for me. I like the slight crop from the top and the removal of the birds from the edge. Love the processing.
