Default Suggestions for Shooting Spots Near Cedar Point, Ohio

Taking the crew out there in early August. I noted 3 lighthouses in the general vicinity which I am planning on shooting.

    I'm planning on only taking a 40d + 17-40L; 24-105L & 70-200 2.8K & 1.4x TC with me. Anything within a short distance of Sandusky, OH you'd suggest as a must see?

    Michael,

Glad to see you'll be in my general area!

How many days are you going to be in Sandusky?

About 45 minutes away is the famous Magee Marsh. With
birds, it could be hit or miss at that time of the month.

Don't know how many in your crew, but in Cleveland we
have the Wood ducks at N. Chagrin Reservation.

We have about 16 covered bridges, but those are in Ashtabula
County, which is probably to far.

In Fremont, OH (where I'm originally from), there's the Mull Covered
Bridge, the Rutherford B. Hayes house and museum.

There's the Davis Besse nuclear plant. On a clear day, you can see
    those stacks from miles away.

    If you don't mind boats, there's Put-in-Bay.

Cedar Point has a few things also, like the ferris wheel, the needle (or whatever
    its called) and carousels.

In Port Clinton there's the African Safari Wildlife Park.

Sorry I couldn't have been more help. Sandusky isn't really my expertise.

    Doug

You've been very helpful Doug. Taking my 9 year old and wife. His big thing will be the coasters. Gonna be there a Thursday through Monday. So I figure Thursday afternoon and Sunday will be days for shooting. Other than lighthouses, may consider those bridges if I have time. Does Magee Marsh offer landscape photo ops?

    thanks again.

As far as Magee Marsh, not really. Its basically a long winding road with marsh on both sides.
Eventually, at the end, you'll come to the beach, with the boardwalk on the left.
