Only discovered this site a couple of days ago and am really impressed with what I've seen. This beautiful bird was captured along the Biyamiti river during a recent trip to Kruger National Park. C&C most welcome.

These are such colorful little birds and I like this image...if I had to nitpick...the feet look just a tad over-saturated and the eye looks little dull may want to use your dodge tool... to bring it out some. ;)

    Hi Charles,
Please do not take my comments as anything bad...I really like the image.

I am new here also and just trying to help and fit in...but I really feel that is you used your dodge tool...especially on Shadows and Highlights mode...you can make the eye stand out more...especially the little light catch you have.

Just a suggestion...as it is still nice image...as is! ;)

Hi Mike, I took no negatives from your comments. I'm relatively new to photography and have self-taught online and through various publications. I'm glad to have found this site so that I can learn more and get feedback from seasoned photographers. Thanks again.

I've retouched the image in Lightroom using Mike's suggestions and I think it shows some improvement.Name: IMG_3281-3_edited-1.jpg

Charles, welcome to BPN!! Glad you are enjoying it so far. Beautiful subject with great colours and excellent details. Composition is well balanced and the background is oh-so perfect. I personally would prefer the eye somewhere between the two as I find the repost lightened a tad too much. Hope to see more, you are off to a great start!

That's better Charles...I like the re-post very well, but as you can see some, like Daniel will have their preferences also.

Either way...it is a great image!

Hi Charles, great close up of this little jewel, and I like the look back pose. Colours look spot on to me, and before reading Dan's comment regarding the eye, I agree somewhere inbetween would look better. Thats a killer BG too.

Welcome to BPN and what a great first post.
Love the IQ and the light and the BG colors.
I like the repost and agree about the eye being a bit too light in the repost.
    Well done and TFS

I agree with the comments, something between the 2 posts would be my suggestion. Welcome!
