    Default Cooper's Hawk Portrait

After seeing some great portraits posted on this forum, I went back through my files and found a portrait that I have been meaning to process and post. I found this guy in my backyard on the fence post, and he stayed there long enough for me to get my camera and take a couple of shots.

Edited in DPP for tiff, then taken to PS for a little eye work. Cropped about 70% for composition.

    Shooting Info:
    Canon 5D3 | 500 f/4 II + 1.4x III
    1/640" | f/7.1 | ISO 400

Man! this is such a good portrait! excellent fine details, BG and sharpness. My only suggestion is try to blend in the subtle curved trace in the bokeh next to his head.

where was Doug when you take this ? he must be drooling

Thanks Arash. I didn't notice the darker curved trace until you mentioned it ... now it's glaring at me!

Doug has his own Cooper's in his backyard ... along with a plethora of other species (including dozens ... and I mean dozens ... of scaled and gambel's quail).

Oh boy this is an encounter to die for...and it looks like a prey item did just that judging by the blood on the bill! Great light, and I love the menacing stare. The details look great. Another drooler here...

A very fine portrait, Miguel, one I would love to have in my portfolio. I've never been this close to a coopers but look forward to the day. Love the color scheme here and all the details.

Beautiful portrait. Great light and colors. Like the sharp details of the bird. If mine I would try to add a bit of canvas at the left and to the top. TFS.

    Cheers,
    Miro
