The old name of this fellow was Rock Dove. I posted this guy a little while back but with a different comp and pose. This was captured in the Pilanesberg National Park in early morning light. The BG is a distant mountain.

That's a great shot, Stuart. I haven't often thought of these as beauty's but your image confirms that they are.

What wonderful light to show off this beautiful bird. About as perfect as an image can be, great detail and colors, perfect perch, complimentary background. Thank you for sharing.

Very appealing image here Stu. The light is very good, as are the perch and pose. A minor tweak, if I may, is to either remove the small twig clipped by the bottom edge, or extend it to look squarely cut. All else looks A1!!

What great you had here, Stuart, and I love the pose and the perch. If it were mine, I'd consider a crop past the first "bump" on the perch and then some off of the left. It cuts off some of the angle, and I think you may like it even better.

Thanks Marina. Here is what I think you had in mind, and I took a bit off the bottom to go back to Dan's suggestion - works for me.

Gorgeous light, superb IQ, great pose, colors, perch. I had a similar thought about the crop, and your repost nails it.

Killer light Stuart! Something I did not have during my entire time in Botswana:-(
I prefer the comp of the OP as I like the lines the perch creates.
    Love this one,
    Gail
