Taken from my car with just a bit of netting at the window,Snipe can be a bit frustrating and are usually a bit jumpy and fly away when you drive up, sometimes you get a calm one like this that likes to have it's picture taken

Thanks for looking and your comments on my last post.

Not sure how you managed to get one out in the open and cooperate long enough to get a shot like this!

I would crop from the bottom to remove wire. Maybe just a tad more sharpening on the head, since it looks like critical focus is on the back.

Hi Keith, great look back pose, nice light on the eye, and I feel the focus looks fine, especially on the long bill. I agree with Miguel that taking a bit off the bottom to just above the wire will work. Killer BG.

Thanks guys, personal thing I know but I like the wire, but here's a version without it.

Keith I was just going to say I don't mind the wire but you beat me to it! A first rate image I love the perch and the pose, that large bill is shown to full benefit, one to be proud of!

Wonderful image... I like the look back pose, the beak shown at a perfect angle. I do not mind the wire because it indicated what the perch is, an old lichen encrusted fence post. Thank you for sharing.

Yep, snipe can be hit or miss! Very nice look-back pose it gave you. Very sharp...so sharp indeed that I would suggest NOT sharpening the perch in this case as the harsh light and contrast on the lichen makes it appear oversharpened there (the subject itself is just perfect). I could also see a version with a bit warmer WB. Superb BG, and the comp feels well balanced in both posts.

Fantastic looking snipe shot Keith. Love the look back pose and the colors and techs look great. Nice looking perch and a sweet BG set this off nicely.. Well done!

Terrific shot of a difficult bird. Great look-back pose, details, bg. I could imagine backing off of the sharpening on the post, just a bit. I could live with the wire, but like it better without. Nice work.
