My buddy Dave Salem and I ran into this very cooperative Immature Ferruginous Hawk, a rarity for us. We see a few every winter in our area but never get that close. This one was actively hunting insects! and was not interested in our careful approach and we both got many keepers from static shots full frame to flight shots in all positions. Thanks for you comments

Surely NOT an easy raptor to spot or photograph, and you've done it wonderfully.

Beautiful clean image of this remarkable species. One of the few species of raptor that uses beak to kill prey.

Lovely exposure on the whites and super detail

What a fun day we had with this guy. Cant believe how cool he was letting us get within a few feet of him. We sure did get allot of great frames and this one looks great!
The wing position and the details in the whites is awesome and I like seeing the hanging legs with the signature feathered tarsus of this eagle like species. See ya out these tomorrow, hope he's there!

Nice one Glenn! The photo really shows off the feathered legs of a Ferruginous Hawk. Sounds like a cool encounter too!
