    Default Brown Pelican wing touching water




    Hi, my first post here.

    Photo was taken in the afternoon about an hour before sunset from the Capitola Village Pier in Capitola, California. I was panning from left to right with the Pelican and the Sun over and behind my right shoulder.

    Sony alpha 77 mark 2
    Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3
    400mm(FFE 600mm) focal length
    1/640th sec
    ISO 400
    Flash did not fire
    front af dial set on Continuous
    AF mode set on expanded flexible point lock on AF
    Av mode with ISO set manually to 400

    Randy:

    The panning has given you a wonderful smooth texture in the water, helped impart a sense of motion.

    I like the wing touching the water, and the slight angle towards us.

    Based on the reflection of the tail, I think the image needs a some CW rotation to be truly level, but it 'reads' pretty well as is.

    Love the trailing wing tip. I think the flowing water really makes the image.
