    Default No Thirst...

We saw the Gemsbok and Springbok scatter at Kij Kij, strained the eyes and saw the arrival of these two.

They killed the previous night, evident with pot bellies, blood on faces and legs, the smelly diarrhoea that comes after a gorging session..

Charlie Ash at Rooiputs about 20km away was branded on his RIGHT rump, this big guy was on LEFT rump..(Morkel, do you know him?)

Basil took some amazing images some years ago of three brothers here, are they somehow related?

Will spend some time here in Feb, will try and collect some more images...

Removed an OOF rock under signature and the metal handle on concrete slab, Park Officials will grill me...

He was not that much interested in drinking...

Nice moment between these two, Andre...with soft morning light (slightly overcast?) if I look at the position you took and direction of the light at Kij Kij. I usually try to avoid getting the man-made elements of the waterholes in-frame, do you have any nice ones of them before they were at the drinking point?

Ash, Mufasa Junior and their other brother roamed together for a while, and Basil snapped them properly as you said. I think the 3rd brother was unbranded, so this guy could be totally unrelated...

Hi Andre - you captured an interesting moment with the tongue out and the pp looks good. Unfortunately I am with Morkel on the man-made element detracting from the image.

    Rachel

    Thank you Morkel and Rachel!

I think I have been going so long to the Kalahari that the man-made waterholes forms part the environment, they are the magnets for animals and us, this is where things happen...

We were on the main Nossob road trying to get a better angle on some foxes when I spotted them approaching from the Melkvlei side. Raced to the waterhole to capture the approach, but not
too far up the dune, avoiding shooting against the light.
Normally animals head straight for the water, drink and then interaction/action happens right there. Have got stacks of approaching images without the waterhole, but they are boring.
The question is, do you post the boring images, or the interesting ones with man-made intrusions...

We(humans) are unfortunately part of the scene....
    Regards

    Andre.

Well Andre remember that scene very well , good we had radios , thanks for letting me have the other one. As many times i was late , and missed the first sequence , was struggling getting car and set up sorted out .

I like the scene a lot , but i am with Morkel that i do not like the man made WH , and i hardly took images with the WH in the frame . I tried to avoid it . And yes at that stage he was not interested in drinking .

I like the overall tone and specially the colors , which look very natural as far as my memory is working .Nice to see your are going away from that choked blacks .

But there is still room to play , the same edits as with the Bokkies , gaps at the end of the histogram . plus i softened the dead rubbish in the BG , with my own method .

Hope you like it . TFS Andreas

Beautiful moment captured Andre, nice interaction and that tongue adds so much to the image. I like the RP more. Great colours, nice soft light and shooting angle.
