Nuthatch
Rather than go for the more traditional nuthatch pose I've gone for something a bit more upright!

I like how the perch runs through the frame, sharpness, clean BG and details. This image shows the big feet nicely too. Nice image Mike. Did you put some seeds or nuts in the hole of the perch?

Real nice capture of this Nuthatch Mike, nice alert pose and the bird looks spot on!looks like a natural perch which blends well with the bird, nice clean bg.
Cheers Keith.

Nice one Mike
I would have possibly gone for a smaller aperture and less speed just to get a bit more of that rear end in focus.
Asyou know I like ahint of something in the background- not always possible but makes it look more like "being somewhere"
No big deal.

Hi Mike, very nice indeed, great detail, sharpening & exposure also looks good. Like the DoF as it gives prominence to the head and the body tails off. Personally I might have had a tad less of the perch LHS and a fraction more to the right. Seems the kit is working nicely and the monitor is set-up too. Look forward to more.

Thanks all,
Jim - I have put nuts in that hole before but not on this occasion, hence the next frame he was back to doing the upside down poses
Steve - I tried god knows how many crops for this one, horizontal, vertical, even square as the trunk too easily dominated the shot. I'm pretty sure I have one that fits in with your idea somewhere...

It was just a thought Mike, take your time, and you can always crop with the 5D, but avoid too hefty a crop.

Hi Mike, this fellow really pops out my screen, and love the detail on the head and body. Great view of the near foot, and what a killer BG. Good point from Steve regarding the comp.
