    Image captured August 2013 in late afternoon just outside a local preserve. C&C welcome.

    D3s, Nikon 500mm + 1.4 tc, 1/320, f 9.0, ISO 800, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

    Hi Geoffrey, nice red tailed hawk. There seems to be some detail missing in the head area. Do you know where the focus point locked on this image? Looks like it locked on the bottom of the tail as the perch branch is also lacking detail. At f9 i would have expected the full bird to be properly focused but its slightly off IMO

    The BG makes the bird pop out nicely and composition works for me

    Lovely pose and colors. I might consider a crop off of the bottom and slight off of the left to give this image more power.

    Hi Geoffrey, good look back pose, and you have captured great feather detail. Nicely separated from the BG too.
