    Default 4 Days in Algonquin

I have become smitten with Algonquin Park. The original was made up of many small squares from actual shots, then converted to a colour, using filter> blur>average, and making it into a mosaic of sorts. Completely different for me, and I am sure not to everyones' taste.

I like the colors and the distribution of the different-sized rectangles. And I'm really glad you explained how you did it. Blur>Average is one of those things I'd seen in the drop-down list but never tried, and it has lots of potential. I'm curious to know if the shots of Algonquin Park you used in this image were all taken at about the same time and, if so, when that was. Thanks for sharing this with us.

These were pictures taken over a four day span Dennis. I went up to Algonquin from October 15th til the 19th.

Jackie, I have to admit that at first I thought the thumbnail just would not load properly! I do like the various sizes of rectangles but it seems too featureless to me. Especially since it is depicting a park with lots of natural textures. I thinking some sort of texture could be an option.

Hi, Jackie, I viewed this on my iPhone and I thought the same thing Nancy did It's way out of the box and I think I like it. I like the random placement of the colors. Kudos for pushing our horizons

I think the very modern take on this, making the colors almost Mondrian squares, is interesting. Wouldn't have thought of it as a park, a bit way out of the box, but hey, that's why we experiment, isn't it. Interesting approach. Glad you explained it, though, or I wouldn't have gotten the "park" thought.

Thanks Cheryl, and thanks for the comments. I thought it was an interesting idea.

This is different and for sure not to everyones taste. I tried this a few years back using all the different fall leaf colors I could find. Nothing wrong with experimentation. Interesting work. I may have tried to use shapes instead of blocks. TFS

p.s. did you see the first bird report from Algonquin by R. Tozer?

I think it's really cool Jackie! I like the pure abstraction and the placement of each element. The colors all work nicely together too, reminds me somewhat of a collection of color chips from a Pantone color swatch book.

Jackie, I am re-reading your steps to create this so I can experiment myself. Are you saying that each of those large and small areas is a separate photo from the park?

I think you did a pleasing job of placing the blocks for size, color, tone. Good for you for doing something completely different!!
