    Default Jumping Jill & Jack

Still trying to sort out images from the trip, backing up and deleting.
Always try and systematically work from beginning to end with filing and processing, the cats were seen later during trip.

Image captured at Rooiputs, was travelling and this jumping only lasted a few minutes, had to stop and shoot!!!
Blacks in eye and horns lacking detail, in this instance I did not think it needed it.
Had to add about 15% canvas to the left and cropped from right, tad on top&bottom for comp.

    Techs:
    Nikon D3S with 300 f2,8
    1/1600 @ f6.3
    ISO 560

    C&C welcome
    Regards

Hi Andre - Nice light and well timed to capture the jumping behavior. I don't mind the lack of detail either in this instance with the wide image and a bit of distance to subject. The only thing that would take it up a notch of me, would be if there was separation between the 2 but not something you could do much about.

Just saw this one on FB too. Great image - love the action captured, soft tones, good light on both subjects, and you managed to get both of them quite sharp in focus. Agree with Rachel that having separation between the subjects would have been the icing on the cake, but still a great image, Andre. If I was to do anything with this, I would probably clone out the dung in the lower right.

Beautiful image, well exposed, nicely composed too! The jumping pose with their shadows is just terrific! Well done.

Great timing with the dual jumping pose, and I really like the shadows. All details have been held well, and overall a very nice shot

Great pronking action captured Andre. Good light and timing. Presume your quick draw custom camera box worked out well

Thank you Rachel, Mark, Sanjeev, Mike and Carl!
Rachel, maybe they were family, liked to be close together
Mark, I might be wrong, decided not to clean the poo to give more emphasis on high they jump...?
Carl, would not win in Wild West, but it was faster..BTW, pronking is only when the soft hair on their rumps are raised and displayed, while jumping, still waiting in anticipation for that capture...
    Regards

    Andre.

Hi Andre for being that quick in action to get this , the outcome is quite nice .
Love the kalahari colors and the (well almost ) clean image .Great timing and i am fine with the overlapping of the two , almost symmetrical .
You can push the histogram further to the right (gap) for more brilliance ,I personally would lower the shadow in the back and loose the tree by removing and the poo in the FG , then you really have a CLEAN frame , maybe too clean and it look kind of sterile .

    Keep them coming

Andre pronking is merely a term used to describe the action of the animal and is not purely related to the raised hair that can often send a message visually and olfactory to other herd members to signify a sense of alarm related to potential predators

Thanks Carl, so they didn't see me as a predator..

I always thought jumping is not actual pronking if the hair is not raised, but one learns something new every day

Andreas, does one push the histogram in the RAW, what about blowing the whites?

Hi Andre just at the end what i did with my RP ..... no blown HL !!!!
Just a plain levels adjustment layer and pushed each channel to the limit (blend mode luminosity ) plus a curve layer with a tiny bit mid tone darken .

You see the difference ? for me me there is a tiny bit more brilliance in the frame

    Cheers Andreas

Nice poses here Andre - I agree about the separation but not much you could do about that.
    Andreas' RP does the trick!

Hi Andre, for me I would liked to have had more DoF so the two were closer to each other in terms of clarity & sharpness. Having the one behind 'soft' (lacking definition) jars a little, emphasis by the sharpness and clean lines of the outline of the FG body. For me it's more of a 'fun' image, but just my take.
