    Red/Brown Adult Eastern Screech-Owl

    Spring, TX

    D810, 80mm, ISO 500, f11, 1/250, Dual flash @ 1/32 power, PhotoTrap triggered, Audio used to lure bird in.

    Played around in my back yard this week.

    Now that is how to use a flash! Love the intense stare and the out spread talons, dark BG really sets it off, great work.
    Wish I had these in my backyard.

    "Played around in my backyard this week" ... that's some pretty sweet results for just playing around Alan!

    The sense of concentration on the birds eyes and the stretched out legs and talons are key to making this image. Looking forward to some more from your backyard.

    Nice back yard work, Alan!!! Love the landing pose and intent look on the owl. Your perch is just right and what amazing flash work. Did you have to do any work at all to remove highlights from flash? Did you work on the eyes at all?

    Hey Marina, thanks. I did remove an extra catch light in each eye. That's about it.
