    It is a long time since I've posted something on Avian forum, so I give it a try....

    Model = NIKON D300
    Exposure Time = 1/800"
    F Number = F7.1
    Exposure Program = Aperture priority
    ISO Speed Ratings = 400
    Metering Mode = Pattern
    Sensing Method = One-chip color area sensor
    Exposure Mode = Auto exposure
    White Balance = Auto white balance
    Focal Length In 35mm Film = 450mm
    Lens = Nikkor 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.5-5.6

    I like the splash and the mood here. The gull is a bit too small in the frame, flying away from us and the whites appear blown

    Adrian, a good try, it hd to be taken but unfortunately I think you were two or three wing beats too late.

    I like the curve of the splash and the nice look at the near wing. As pointed out above, the whites look overexposed and I would have preferred it if the bird was flying towards us (or at least a flight path that gives us a nice look at the bird's profile).

    It seems that somewhere in my workflow, the whites got blown... The original developed raw file is OK.

    I like the idea you had here and the splash made by the feet. I think it could have worked if you could see the bird's head and if the bird were a little larger in the frame. I agree some of the whites appear blown.
