Hey John. Surely you mean "Coal", but by whatever name, it looks good.

Nice detail for such a low shutter speed on a fast moving target.

Feather detail looks clear without looking crunchy, so that is nice.

The curly brown leaf in the foreground does detract a bit from the overall image, in my opinion; but that's the way it is!

    Thanks for sharing,

    Gerald

Well detailed portrait, lovely colours, a tiny bit large in the frame perhaps but a very pleasant image.

    Thanks all
Gerald - Yes its usually called that nowadays but I got into the habitof using its old name some years back and it stuck with me.In fact I was reading in bed last night and came across a reference to it several times.

Most of my childhood bird books called it that. I believe it refers to the "dark"head. Am looking further

Whatever you spell it like it is easier said and spelt than the very similar bird we have here which we call the Black-capped Chickadee! Well exposed and excellent details. Bummer about the leaf behind the subject, but overall I like the forest feel of the image (despite being in your yard).

Lovely detail, pose and setting. Reminds me of my youth in England.

    Hi John,
I can't find any reference to "cole" - maybe we will just have to settle on "Periparus ater britannicus".
Has a certain ring to it, don't you think!

    Cheers,

    Gerald

Excellent work here John. A good image despite the background leaf. Good detail and colour too.

I certainly remember a few old books or mags calling this 'Cole tit' and in some articles the publishers would write 'Coal Tit or Coal Tit' but the weight throughout has been on 'Coal tit'. I think using Cole Tit will always raise eyebrows now thesedays.

Nice frame of the cute little guy. Great looking details in this one and I like the habitat in the BG but like Daniel, I wish the leaf wasn't behind it. It dose look like our Black caped Chickadee. Well done
