    Default SCARECROW - THEME

I must admit she is not very spooky; however, she is a scarecrow. The image was captured while my wife shopped the Amana Colonies near Iowa City, Iowa. This is not my usual genre. It was this or a bunch of aging retirees spending their kids inheritance ( self included ). I used Topaz Simplify to unclutter the bg and corn husks.

This is an adorable scarecrow! And a great composition with the vertical elements grounded by the horizontal row of colorful pumpkins and gourds. Good choice using topaz simplify to unclutter. However for me there is a visual disconnect between the simplified parts and the obvious details of the rest. What about a small dose of simplify for the gourds, etc.? You could experiment with masking out the not-so-scary scarecrow and see how that looks, as her features are already simplified.

You've got three Cs here: color, composition, and cuteness. I like them all. However, I agree with Nancy about the disconnect between the Simplified and detailed parts of the image. It achieves your goal, but I'd prefer less of a change. My inclination would be to have, perhaps, three levels of Simplification with the face of the scarecrow having a very little or maybe none.

Not spooky at all. I like the happy, colorful look. Great composition and color. I think the second version achieves your vision.

Thumbs up for the re-do. Everything works together, and the attention still goes where it should -- maybe even more so.
