    Default Tiger from South India

Posting after a really long time. I came across this big male during a late evening safari. Light was really low and in no way I could avoid the safari vehicle in the background or the over exposed sky. Simply loved the pose and the look. I actually came across the same tiger two years back around 5km from where I saw it this time around, Thanks for viewing. I would love to get some critique on this.

    Specs: f4 1/80 ISO2000 600mm ( 1Dx 600II )

Hi Saurav, good to have you back posting again.

I can appreciate/share your dilemma about the background & vehicle having been to India and photographed Tigers, but certainly nothing you could have done without loosing the capture. I do like the low POV and side profile as he crosses the road as it conveys the size, profile and immense build of these magnificent animals. Head to camera is also nice, I assume you caught his attention with the shutting firing? With the 1DX cranking up the ISO is not an issue, therefore I would have taken it to around 6400 to gain more SS, hard to tell at this size, but 1/80 unless rock steady or bolted to a tripod head I feel is just too low. Personally I might clone the red light from the vehicle that is near the front leg/road as it just catches my eye, but it will be interesting to see what others think.

Lovely tiger; great pose and eye contact. The low angle is also great. I agree with everything Steve mentioned. In addition, I might suggest pulling down the highlights in the sky a bit using a luminosity mask.

Beautiful creature. I like the low angle and the nice light. The white sky above the animal detract from the beauty of the tiger. I'd clone out the whites, but that that's just me. You may not feel comfortable about that. Nice image as is.

Cool angle! Won't rehash everything that's been said...
The sky is fine for me, but the vehicle is unfortunate. The softness of the head as well.
Do you have any of the cat further along to the left, even if the head is turned sideways again?

Since the back of the tiger is a strong line, it would not be hard to clone away both the vehicle and that sky and replace it all with a continuation of that dark mottled bkgd. Do the same for those red lights. You could also crop this to a pano to remove some of that sky. All depends on what you are comfortable doing. Great head turn towards you, with the look of a snarl.

What an awesome sighting, Saurav! Having the vehicle behind hurts...so sorry! Removing the vehicle could mean long hours of work but it's worth a try...Amazing creature, I am just looking at the size of those paws...Keep going back there, you might see him again and hopefully have another opportunity to capture him in all his beauty.

Thank you for sharing, hope to see more images from you

    Kind regards,

Thanks a lot for all the feedback. I do have some other images from the same sighting and I will be posting them soon. There are a few without the vehicle but the head angle and leg position isn't that great in those.
