    Default Cape Buffalo

This Cape Buffalo was part of a herd at a waterhole in Addo Elephant National Park that withdrew when the elephants arrived (cool to watch). This fellow was too close for a good body shot, hence the portrait. I processed it in color and then tried this monochrome which I like better. C&C encouraged and greatly appreciated.

Hi Katie - Those are some strange looking horns! Nice detail and sharpness and the tonal range looks good. The conversion works for me too. Nice one! Btw the image does not have an embedded color profile. My understanding is that even with a b&w or toned image you want to assign sRGB for optimal viewing in any browser.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Katie, this is a really nice B&W conversion, great head on pose, nice tonal depth, sharp and detailed image. Nicely composed too. Well done.

Hi Katie , very nice clean portrait head shot of the buff.
Good job in PP by choosing the comp and the conversion works with this image . Good detail and a wide range of tones .

Solid framing and exposure here, Katie - and the conversion has a pleasing range of tones and contrast.
Buffalo are usually good candidates for these kinds of shots in my view.
