This is obviously the same perch and setup in the backyard as the Pine Siskin I posted a few days ago...the American Goldfinches posed nicely on it too. I prefer the comp on this one with a bit more room below...

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/125s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop top and right to help the comp, eye work to clean up reflections in the pupil.

    Daniel:

An interesting comp. challenge because of the leaves. I think it works, but I might try lowering the luminosity of the upper leaf just a bit. It is just big and bright enough to compete too well with the less colorful/bright bird.

    Cheers

Hey Daniel, I like the pose of this goldfinch portrayed against that killer BG. I tend to agree with Randy re toning down the competitive upper leaf.

very cool Dan, nice pose, sharp. In an ideal world he would have chosen a prettier perch but this one ain't bad either

    hope you're doing well

Lovely shot I like the complimentary colours, good sharp eye and bill.
