Pretty bird and it looks like you did great with the exposure. I might get rid of the branch in the lower left and maybe just a bit more USM. Thanks for sharing.

Agree with Katie !!! Can add to always check your sun angle, here looks like it was from your right enough to create shadows on the bird. Some fill flash would have been helpful.

How was your histogram? Data on the fifth box? Not sure about the minus 1/3 Bird looks good as presented would lighten just a bit overall and work on the shadow in the breast area. Might want to post at the max size for easier evaluation !!!

What's USM That Katie referred to?
My wife and I have tried to post at maximun size but we don't apparently understand how. We lower the pixels to get the KB down below 200 and lower the resolution to increase the width to 800 but it isn't working for us. We need a tutorial! Thanks Jim

Sorry for the confusion, USM is the acronym for Unsharp Mask and it is a process for sharpening found in Photoshop as well as Photoshop Elements. I like it because it gives you control over how much sharpening you apply. For resizing, I change the long side of the image to 800 and before I go to "save for Web" I usually apply USM, sometimes two rounds. For me, this usually results in an image that is less than 200KB...if not you can adjust the quality slider as needed. See this thread for more information:

    Hope that helps:)

Great colors and very sharp, do agree with Katie about getting rid of the branch.
