Hummingbird in my backyard. Critique is very much appreciated. D7100/300mm f4. SS 1/320, f/7.1, ISO 400, AF-C, 300mm, built in flash at 1/64th on bird triggering SB-910 at 1/16th on background.
A classic pose -- I'm on an aging laptop for another week so can't really appreciate the details. I'm wondering if the flash, which would give you a shutter speed of closer to 1/10,000 sec, is only on the BG and not the bird? You can get amazing sharpness with a flash on the BG and two on the bird (main light and fill), but triggering them together can be a pain.
Greetings. Would be good if you posted this a little bigger. The detail of from the feet to beak tip looks good at this size (but sharpness improves with shrinkage so it's hard to tell if the detail is really there). The oof tail is less than ideal in this side shot. Increased ss is the ticket (or flash equiv. not something I understand). Beautiful gorget. Thanks for posting.
I'm on my big monitor now and echo Michael's comment re image size. It looks good at this size but not possible to judge sharpness. A good nature image should be tack-sharp at 100% magnification at the focus plane, which should be on the eye in almost all cases. You are the only one who can judge that. The rest looks good.
