Great detail on the bird and the perch, very nice overall. Maybe the blur on the wings attracts my attention too much, but, it does bring some movement to the image

Jonathan you have great detail on this bird and action with the wing motion, real neat image.

Exposure and techs all good except the shutter speed. The blur on the wings is fine but the subject movement can only just be seen around the eye.

Jonathan, that's not a usual pose! I like the composition of it, but the head movement is just a bit too much. Do you have others from this series?

I envy you Jonathan having these beauties visit your garden
A nice presentation of a woodpecker and I guess the head is pounding away at the trunk to record that light movement.

Thanks very much everyone, I have to admit I did not notice head movement at the time of processing, I have gone back to the raw file and sure enough there is movement.

Hi Jon, great looking perch for your visitor, and well exposed on him too. Any reason for shooting such a low ISO for your 1DX. I believe shooting higher ISO's wont make a dent in the noise factor.

I agree Stu, I have developed a habit of Auto ISO because I now use manual mode. I had previously been trying to use a minimum shutter speed on portraits and this opportunity suddenly arose before I had chance to think about changing the shutter speed. the next image is a bit sharper
