    Default Blue tit

A simple blue tit from my local feeding station. I really I wanted a straight side on view as DoF was limited due to the overcast conditions, but he wasn't in the mood for listening

Hi Mike, front half of the bird looks really nice and sharp unfortunately wings and tail are a bit on the soft working on a new monitor so take my critique with a pinch of salt.

    Cheers Keith.

Good clean shot Mike, I agree tail a little soft, I also think there is a very slight blue cast, it looks little bit cold (even if it was!)

Hi Mike, good angled pose, and we have a great view of the near foot holding onto the perch. I do like the smooth BG.

I removed the image for you.

Nice image Mike, I think it would be better with the whole bird in focus

T think at a feeding station you would have had the luxury of being close so DOF would be narrow. I am very forgiving in such circumstances and given the light you did well.
PS ...have we met? I see you are in Manchester....I'm on Bury New road.

    Cheers Keith.
Not the monitor Keith, just limited DoF! Thanks for the comment

Thanks Jonathan, I'll take another look at the colours. Still looking for time to get to Hilbre!

Cheers Adrian, I got another I'll post later with a more side on view from the same session. I live in Denton so not too far away, possibly bumped into you somewhere like Pennington Flash? I'm always up for a meet / petrol sharing session if you ever fancy it

I will keep you in mind...I don't drive. We may have met at PF, or possibly when doing Glossy Ibis? Check out date... https://www.flickr.com/photos/24940353@N03/10025843266/
    Edit to correct jibberish:)

Looks like you were close enough where a couple of stops on aperture wouldn't have helped you too much. Although even handheld I think you can get away with 1/200".

You have a pleasing portrait here with a nice pose. I think the bird could use a little more sharpening. If this is a set up you are going to continue using, I would remove the vertical vine right in front of the bird.

I like it. The limited DOF does not bother me as it concentrated the view on the head, which could use a bit more sharpening. The pose and the nice BG add to the frame. I might try to add some black or contrast to this one. Well done
