Hi dear missed folks of BPN ,
i was busy in SA for new material and got some some stuff , not the best in the world , but at least i had loads of fun and great sightings .
The most important stuff was the fact that i found new friends in SA , thanks to Gabriela and Andre . Giving me the option to look at the Kalahari with different eyes in parts .
I would like to thank them for their warmth and hospitality they gave me .............Did not expect it that way.I cannot write of all that what i feel , takes too long goes way off topic .

    Image taken in Pilanesberg GR

    F 6,3 ; 1/ 3200 sec ; Iso 1600

Processed on Macbook ; DPP 4 ; PSCC quick and dirty; slight crop for comp

Hope you like my re entry , more to come in near future

Cheers Andreas, waiting in Amsterdam fort connecting flight.

Looking forward to the onslaught of quality images - this should be a good 3-way shoot out!

For me, I'd lose some off the bottom of this frame, but I do like the direct stare

    Hi Andreas

Agree with crop, bit of blues in eyes (blue eye) and mane removed.
    Selectively sharpened using your technique.
    Maybe too many greens?
    WDYT, mr BE?
    Regards

    Andre.

Thank you guys for your comment and suggestion .
Agree with you regarding crop , like what you did with the crop Andre .
Your work with the colors did not match my thoughts , you changed the warm colors to a quite cool and greeny touch .
Agree with you about sharpness , as i said worked on mobile so not ideal . But you went a bit over the top with your RP , specially the white halos , the black halos do look good though .

Mr BE thanks you for your effort

Nice one Andreas, cool perspective. I too would lose just a touch off the bottom.
Andre's repost looks too green to me too, your OP was fine for me colour-wise.
I'd have loved to meet up - but we will make double sure next time!

    Hello Andreas,

I take it you hardly put your suitcase/gear down and ran to the computer to back-up and review your images! Glad you are home safely and it was such a pleasure meeting you and spending time together, especially in the Kalahari where the three of us got to know each other better and shared some really unforgettable moments! During the past two weeks we managed to develop a new vocabulary where we mixed a number of languages (Zulu, Afrikaans, German, English, Romanian) and came up with some interesting expressions...Language was no barrier between us, on the contrary - we found new ways of expressing ourselves :) and communicating via the two-way radios while travelling along the Kalahari river beds brought out the humorous side in us all. It was a great trip and we treasure those moments spent in your company!

Back to topic, I really like this image and especially the expression on the zebra's face, it almost feels as if the subject is posing for you. I like Andre's RP in terms of crop and sharpness, he did a nice job of taking out the blues yet I would have liked the image to retain that warmth the OP has.

I look forward to all your future posts, you must have hundreds, no - thousands to choose from:))

Wishing you gentle sleep and a wonderful day tomorrow,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Andreas - Welcome back and I'm glad you all had a great time. I like the pov and agree with the suggestion to crop a little from the bottom. If it were mine I would reduce the yellows slightly in your op. Looking forward to more from your trip.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Andreas, we can play catch up later, but welcome back. I heard you had a lovely & exciting time with G&A and I think they too were thrilled to show you their backyard and to share the experiences, encounters and ultimately to have fun together.

Getting back to the image, using the MB pro so...
    - No wild on the crop, looks/seems a bit unbalanced, perhaps if you have the space, moving the whole crop a fraction more to the right reducing the space on the LHS may help?
    - Could be the laptop but the image looks a bit thin, lacking detail and overall the colour seem a wee bit off, all of which is unlike you. The RP definitely has a colour cast to it. OP also has some blue creeping in, look at the mane
    - Looking at the high SS you could have used more DoF too, or just dropped the ISO
    - Might consider loosing some of the bottom, perhaps about 5mm above the grass stem then trim???
    - Would loose the grass stem on the LHS in the BKG just for a cleaner BKG

Andreas, could be way off, but just adjusting the WB, taking the bit of Blue out on the mane and more detail in the muzzle, WDYT? I did not wish to lose the IQ so left the crop.

Thanks to all of you for your comments , much appreciated as always !!!!
As i said in the intro not ideal working in a bright environment like an airport , but no excuse .
Agree with Steve about looking a bit thin , but you will see i will try different approach in general as what you are used to me . Tried to look in the field through the viewfinder (paying more attention to what i see regarding the tones ) and was surprised what i can see specially in the darker shadows , even under strong mid day light .So my target will be for the next postings to get that back into my images , by knowing the image cannot have (without good processing ) the same dynamic range as my eyes/brain. So maybe you will see less contrast and thinner looking images as what you are used to see by me .
It is just a "new/different" way of seeing things , will see how far i go with it , and how long this makes me happy .

Re crop is just one alternative .i could do it differently , and will try ..... also will reprocess with Capture One 8 , just for the fun of it .

    Thanks again , Andreas

Very unusual perspective. I like it. And I also like the look after cropping from the bottom - maybe even more than in the reposts.
