The nice thing about using a large brush pile for a feeding station, is that it's very easy to place multiple perches in the pile and change them out easily, as you just jam the perches down into the brush which holds things pretty well. Then when you are done using a perch, it just becomes part of the brush pile Canon7d, Sigma50/500os, iso800, f8, 1/200, cropped, NR to the bg, USM to the subject and perch. Cracked corn used as an attractant. Comments and critiques welcome.
    Regards,
    Shawn Zierman.

Very nice Shawn. The colours on the bird are wonderful and complimented perfectly by the BG. Nice one

Hi Shawn, the light in this is exquisite, and I really like the detail and colours on this fellow - never seen one, but I can see where he gets his name from. Lovely pose, and killer BG. I may completely wrong, but I feel there is a slight magenta cast to the perch.

Oh that is one sweet image, love the colours and hues and the background is idyllic - what a super shot. Just the right degree of sharpening too!

Mr. Z, you have taken a mighty fine image. My favorite pose, too.

Like this image a lot, Shawn. The light is perfect for this great looking bird. Beautiful BG too. Apparently they like flooded woods, swamps and marshes also. Would love to see one in person.

This is such an all around perfect image of this species, Shawn. It all came together nicely esp the color palette with that super BG.

Wow! way better that the thumbnail suggests. Perfect side profile and the light hitting the subject is even and clean. Your techs and details are great and I like the perch and smooth BG. Very nice Shawn

Awesome image and for me the way the BG colors play with the rest of the image put it over the top!
