    Default belted kingfisher

I was laying down at a local pond photographing a shoveler trying to get a low key image of it in the sun when I heard this fella. I played audio from my phone (did not have speaker) and it quickly came to check me out. It actually splashed the water right in front of me. Not sure if fishing or displaying. Then it landed here. I shot it from the ground level as I was laying down flat on my belly. It was windy and overcast. Comments and feedback welcome

Enrique, I think the dk BG makes this bird stand out. The colours are lovely. Thanks for sharing

Nice look at this beautiful KF. I like the pose and the perch and the techs look great too. The BG could use some NR. Well done

Nice back-story Enrique and a wonderful bird. Technically looks good but the bird is a bit dark on my monitor, however, I have just re-calibrated my monitor so it may be that I have not adjusted it quite right. Regards, Ian

Well worth the redo for the issues mentioned with the background. Super beautiful bird, nice perch. Overall, looks like it could go brighter. Not sure how much room you have but not sure if the squarish comp is your best choice. Maybe a vertical?

What a great experience. I enjoy the head angle...how the bird appears curious about you and eyeing you up. Great background to show this bird against, and a very nice perch.

Just a wee bit dark as mentioned, but lovely female KF on a good perch and a great BG. These guys are very wary and perceptive...did it stay long on the perch?

Hi Enrique, lovely inquisitive pose, and very similar to our Giant Kingfisher. Our female Giants also have the 'bronze' on the lower body, as Dan has mentioned this is a female. I quite like the darker BG.

Not very long Daniel... and you know that I lifted my finger from the shutter - stopping the burst - as it took off... :(

Lovely image Enrique! These birds are very skittish so I really appreciate this image.
Repost looks good with a tiny bit of a crop from the left ( somewhere between the OP and the repost) for my tastes.
