Hi Folks: Curve-billed Thrasher and I would sure like to see the wind go bye bye :D Photographed him on a dead dried out branch of a Cholla Cactus. Looking for another critique to lead me to be a better photographer. All your suggestions appreciated . . . Gus :)

    Hi Gus,
This is nice and sharp, good angle and I like the cactus in the bg. We share the same challenge: lots and lots of harsh sunlight...I live in Las Vegas:)

Hi Gus Managed the hard light very well !!! .... also nice angle !!!

Sure would like seeing the bird just off the cactus, taking a step to the right would have given you separation. This is taking into consideration that the nice bird would have stayed put !!!! When composing always look beyond your subject at the bg !! It is just as important part of the image.

Got the exposure dead on and the image is very sharp. Waited for the good head angle. Sometimes you can use a polarizer filter to good effect in the harsh light. Best to photograph earlier in the day !!! I like this one a lot !!! Neat bird !!

Thanks Folks for looking at my photo: Kathy, yes, our Sunshine brings lots of visitors for the sunshine (with their money :D) However, with the excellent information from the experts here I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel :) Your Red Rock Audubon Soceity looks very interesting.
Al, thanks for the polarizing tip, would Neutral Density filters, such as ND2 help? I took about 6 different positions, however the cactus had a dead bunch of foliage on top ~ dummy me, I should have removed it first. Appreciate both your complimentary comments . . . Have a great weekend ~ I'm going to watch Danica Patrick win the Indie 500  . . . . Gus
