    Joe:
Very nice with good comp, well scaled perch, clean background with just enough variation to give it some sense of depth.

I might try a version with the brightness toned down a sliver.

    Very nice

    Cheers

    Joe,

It's always nice when you get one to perch for you like this. That background is killer too.

I'd agree with Randy about toning down the exposure just a tad, especially on the upper portion of the heron.

This image has a lot of potential. Great pose, perch and BG. I would like to see a tad more on top if you have it. I agree on the exposure. I am seeing some similarity between your issue with a previous osprey in this one in the eye area. Your exposure around the eye is too much, and I'd like to see more contrast there. It will really improve an already nice image.

You got some very good advise already and I agree with them. I love the perch and the way the heron is tightly clutching it.

Great pose of this heron and good composition here Joseph - agree though with exposure comments - it does appear a little bright on my monitor.

Here is a version with the brights toned down...some of the whites in the chest stripes is unrecoverable from this posted jpg... otherwise it is a great image.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to view, comment and offer suggestions to improve the image. Using your comments and suggestions as a guide I went back to the original and worked it up again. This is that edit. Any comments and suggestions on this post would be appreciated. Thanks again everyone.

    Joe:

Your repost is def. an improvement, both on the exposure and the extra room on top.

    Well done.
